Kansas Update...

For all of you who didn't know already, Josh and I moved to Colby, Kansas. Where is that you ask? Well it's a tiny little town in Northwest Kansas, about 60 miles from the Colorado state line (I think) and around 3 hours from Denver, right off of the I-70. We miss our home and life in Miami but we are really excited to start a new chapter of our lives here in Colby. I accepted a job working in a family practice clinic here and am excited to start working as a "real" physician assistant (I am now board certified! Yay!). Josh plans on pretty much taking over the town, and he will also be caring for our baby and attending classes at the local college.

Josh and I are currently living in a hotel...yep, a hotel. Apparently there aren't too many rental options out here and well to buy a house right now is a little sketchy so we are living in a hotel. Each day we venture out hoping to find something that will spark our interest, turn our head, or just anything that we can live in without having to put a down payment on!! We are searching and really do hope to find something to live in before the week is over (I mean if we were living at the Ritz or something then maybe we wouldn't mind but the Days Inn???) Plus, hotel living adds up fast...all while our "stuff" sits outside our window in a Uhaul truck.

Josh spent 40 hours driving from Miami to Colby last week (while I enjoyed seeing friends and family in Utah) and he video recorded his trip. As soon as we get settled we will show pictures of our new town as well as Josh's adventure across the country. In the meantime, we are alive and well and miss all of our family and friends very much.

Baby Shower, Miami Style

Lindsey Nelson and Jamie Recalde hosted the shower...it was at Lindsey's house. Thank you so much!! You two are the best!

Yes, I do look like Buddha...but oh well!

All the girls who came to my shower

My cute friends decided to throw me a baby shower...and then Josh and I decided to move unexpectedly to Kansas so the baby shower pressure was on! They did a fantastic job and it was so much fun! Thank you soo much to everyone who could come and for all the fun presents you gave me and our baby. We miss you all!

Tribute to an old friend...

We said goodbye to our luxurious Lincoln Rocket last week. After we decided to move to Kansas, we thought we'd put her up for sale and see if anything happened. We only had a few people interested in our dear friend, but she sold quickly and for a good price.

Goodbye Lincoln Rocket, we will forever remember our time with you: driving to Orlando and Key West (you were so reliable then), traveling through the everglades, cruising South Beach, helping us pick up young men and women throughout Miami to go to church activities (they always wanted to turn you into a Wip but we would not have it!). The Lincoln Rocket was a hit wherever we went! You will be missed dear Lincoln Rocket.

32 weeks

Here I am at 32 weeks, in the everglades and looking fabulous! Haha, it seems I always look somewhat dead in my pictures lately. It could be due to stress over my boards (I still am studying for them and take them this week). But, I'd regret not recording my first pregnancy so here I am posting the glamorous pictures on the internet. The other pictures are also from the everglades. We went for our last adventure with the alligators and crocs (for a while at least) this past Saturday with some friends and had a great time!
Punj, Josh, Mike and little KadeJosh did some acrobats for us in the palm trees, isn't my husband quite impressive?? :)

Beautiful sunset, as always in the everglades.

Lots of catching up....

Hello everyone! No we didn't fall off the face of the planet, although it might have seemed that way to others! :) We have had a whirlwind December and I am just now catching up with all the things that I failed to do during the holidays (I'm still working on Christmas cards...)

First off, I graduated on December 13 from my PA program. Due to the event we had my family in town for about a week. Not a day after they left, Josh and I left on a last minute trip to Kansas where I had an interview for a job. The afternoon after we got back Josh's family arrived for the holidays! They left on New Years Eve and it took us a few days to try to recover from all the festivities! But, we're back in action and I am currently studying for my boards. Wish me luck, I'm scared to death of them! And....we just might be moving to Kansas so we'll keep you all posted on that one too!

We have lots of pictures from the last month. The following are a few random pictures mostly from the last week or so...

This is me at 30 weeks pregnant. We went for a bike ride at Shark Valley on New Years Day.

A mama alligator with several baby alligators surrounding her.

Josh and I on our bike ride at the everglades. Kind of a scary picture of me...oh well!

We went to the Miami Metro Zoo last Monday and had a good time. The kids really enjoyed it I think but I only took pictures of the flamingos!

We went to the beach and got some yummy ice-cream. It was windy and the "treats" were flying everywhere!

Wyatt playing in the ocean at the beach. What a cutie!

We had the opportunity to see the Horsley family too. They had all been on a cruise for Christmas so we went to lunch with them before they left back to their homes. We missed seeing Jack though who had to stay on the ship to see patients.

Josh showed the girls and Wyatt how to play his new soccer video game!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...

Christmas came and went so fast this year, I almost feel like I missed it all together! Josh's family came to Miami to celebrate and we had a great time with them! We went to a condo for 3 days (including Christmas day) and the rest of the time was spent at our house. Here are a few pictures to enjoy!

Josh reading bedtime stories to our nieces Makenna and Kyla.

We went swimming at the pool of the condo after opening presents on Christmas Day! Josh and I with Arianne and her 3 kids.

Christmas morning, opening presents. The kids were fun to watch and Uncle Vince (in the background) helped them all open their toy packages!

I got some sweet coco butter lotion in my stocking!

Kyla and Wyatt examining Santa's plate of cookies and milk!

Kyla and Makenna with all the stockings. Santa did find us at the condo!

This is a horrible picture but I couldn't get a good one no matter how hard I tried! Josh had my wedding ring rotium (spelling?) plated for my graduation/Christmas present. When we picked up the ring he had surprised me with 2 more diamonds, 1 added on each side! I was so excited, it looks great! Thanks babe, I love you!

Christmas morning. We couldn't bring a tree to the condo so we made our own (on the wall).

Christmas breakfast...I made my first sausage ring ever! And it turned out pretty good. We had a lot of leftovers though!

This is our first Christmas tree...ever! We didn't put one up in previous years since we didn't stick around for the holiday, but we did this year! I was proud of my cute tree!

We hope everyone had a great, fun, and safe holiday season!

Graduation

I graduated from Barry University's Physician Assistant Program on December 13, 2008. I now officially have my master's degree in Medical Clinical Sciences and am eligible to sit for my boards to become a certified physician assistant! Pretty cool stuff! It was a very exciting day for Josh and I! My parents came out for the event, as well as my grandma and grandpa VanWoerkom (from California) and my grandma Day (from Utah). They all stayed about a week and we had a good time together. Us girls did a lot of holiday shopping and baby shopping. In fact, my mom and grandma Day surprised me with a quilt that I had seen and loved while in Utah in November and I was very excited! My grandmothers and mother were all very generous to my unborn son in providing him with lots of cute bedding and stuffed animals, etc! Thanks for coming to my graduation everyone, it really meant a lot to me!

This picture is of the quilt and cute monkey and alligator for baby's bed! I love it! I haven't finished putting it all together, but when I do I will post a picture!

Josh and I at my programs graduation where I received my certificate of completion of the PA program!

This is at Barry University's graduation which was held in downtown Miami. My favorite boys (including the baby in my belly!)
