The past 6 weeks have been a whirlwind around here. I was doing my surgery rotation and working 60 hour weeks. I'm sure that doesn't sound too bad to any resident out there, but it was crazy trying to run a home, and never being home. Luckily I had a lot of help from Josh-he pretty much saved me by keeping up on our laundry, feeding me, and making sure I had enough food to get me through my long surgery days. Anyway, the rotation is over now so things are starting to get back to normal. Therefore, I am catching up on our blog as well!
North Carolina:
Josh and I decided to take a last minute trip to Wilmington, North Carolina over the 4th of July weekend. We had been thinking about moving up that way and decided it would be fun to go and check things out. Josh's good friend Brett lives in Raleigh so he drove down with his girlfriend to spend the weekend with us. It was a lot of fun to see him, meet Elise, and check out North Carolina. I had Friday the 4th off so Josh and I left on Thursday night (after a long nap) and drove all night. It took us about 12 hours total to drive including an hour breakfast stop in South Carolina.
This is pretty much what the road looked like from just north of Palm Beach, FL to Wilmington.
Josh drove the majority of the way, I took over for the last couple hundred miles.
This is Josh eating at our new favorite breakfast place, Shoney's...yeah right! We tried their breakfast buffet of chitlings, grits, and anything else greasy that you can think of! Definitely a southern style breakfast in South Carolina! So gross!!
Due to the holiday weekend, the hotels were packed and wanted outrageous prices to stay so we camped at the KOA!! It was an adventure for sure!
This is Topsail Beach just a few miles North of Wilmington. It was a beautiful place filled with really nice beach homes and properties!

This was our campsite. I forgot to take pictures after we set up the tents but you get an idea anyway! It wasn't a bad spot, just very hot and humid! I don't think Josh really slept that night, poor guy.
This is downtown Wilmington, which sits right on a river. It's historical and fun! They handed out these silly hats for the 4th.
This is down south a bit from Wilmington on an old Civil War battlefield. It was right on the Atlantic and so pretty! Very hot though, that's for sure. I felt so scrubby from our 12 hour car ride and I'm still in my sweats!
Brett, Elise, and Josh at the battlefield

Have you ever seen the old TV show Dawson's Creek? Wilmington is apparently where it was filmed so now you have an idea of what the place looked like! It was very pretty!
Okay, these next couple are for Mark and Heidi...this is the soccer stadium. It looked pretty nice.

Cooking at the Clarks...
Most of you know that Josh loves to entertain. I'm getting more used to it as time goes on, but Josh is definitely better at it than I am! These next couple pictures are kind of random but these were taken one night when we were having a new family in our ward over for dinner. It was quite the project but it turned out very nice!

Josh is the ultimate chef and I try to take lessons from him!
Texas de Brazil...
Our friends Punge and Jamie. It was Punge's birthday in June so we went to dinner at Texas de Brazil. It was very good! Happy Birthday Punge (last month).
